Mumbai is one of the most happening city in the world whether good or bad. Few incidents which will be remembered by people of Mumbai are.

1. Wisdom ship at Juhu beach

The MV Wisdom, Singapore-flagged ship which was going to Colombo was drifted towards bandra worli sea link and grounded at Juhu beach where it was stuck for more than 20 days. While the 175-m hulk has become a tourist sensation for those 20 days and there was a daily rush to watch that wisdom ship. Over the 20 days, there were many attempts made to take this Ship away From the Juhu Beach and finally on 2nd Feb they got success.

2. 26/ 11 2008 Mumbai terror attack

In November 2008, when 10 Pakistani members of Lashkar-e-Taiba, an Islamic militant organisation based in Pakistan, carried out a series of 12 coordinated shooting and bombing attacks lasting four days across Mumbai. The attacks, which drew widespread global condemnation, began on Wednesday, 26 November and lasted until Saturday, 29 November 2008, killing 164 people and wounding at least 308. It was a black day for Mumbai.

3.Dead dolphin at marine drive

A dead dolphin was spotted at Marine Drive on 21st April 2015, across the stretch near GD Somani Chowk. The Marine Drive police station confirmed that the dolphin was found at the location and was later picked up by a BMC vehicle. Members of the local Marine Drive residents’ association said that they had no knowledge of this incident. Zoologists said that it was a humpback dolphin and protected under the wildlife protection act.

4. No one can forget about on 26th July 2005 flood

On 26th july Mumbai came to halt after 3 days heavy rain and finally flood came as a disaster for mumbaikar’s in which over 1000 people lost their lives and many lost their houses. Local trains come to a halt by 2:30 p.m. that day and Railway could commence operation after 2 days due to the water logging on the tracks. Water logging and submergence of certain low lying pockets of the region such as Dharavi, Bandra-Kurla Complex, Chunabhatti, Chembur, Ghatkopar, Milan Subway and Sion either slowed down traffic, or in some areas, brought it to a complete halt.

5. Terrorist attack on the 11 July 2006

Mumbai train bombings were a series of seven bomb blasts that took place over a period of 11 minutes on the Suburban Railway in Mumbai, the capital of the Indian state of Maharashtra and the nation’s financial capital. The bombs were set off in pressure cookers on trains plying the Western line of the Suburban Railway network. 209 people were killed and over 700 were injured.

6. Train Accident at churchgate station

A local train crashed into the dead end at Platform Number 3 of Mumbai’s Churchgate Station on 28th June 2015, causing part of the train to climb over the platform. Five people suffered minor injuries in the incident. For hours, senior officials of the Western Railway made rounds as attempts were underway to move the train’s mangled coach off the platform.

7. Shootout at wadala and lokhandwala

Manohar Arjun Surve, popularly known as Manya Surve, was an infamous Indian urban dacoit and gangster in the Mumbai underworld. His death in 1982 during an encounter with the Maharashtra police became known as the city’s first recorded encounter killing. Another Shootout in 1991 at Lokhandwala Complex was a gunbattle that occurred on 16 November 1991 at the Lokhandwala Complex, between seven gangsters led by Maya Dolas and members of the Mumbai police and the ATS led by the then Additional Commissioner of Police. The four-hour-long shootout was termed as India’s “first daylight encounter” and was videographed and conducted in full view of the public.It ended in the deaths of all seven gangsters, including Maya Dolas, Dilip Buwa and Anil Pawar.

8. Dead whale found at Juhu

A 35-feet-long whale washed up at the Juhu beach on 29th Jan 2016. The mammal is said to weigh around twenty tonnes. Locals spotted the dead whale and informed the police. According to reports, experts say the whale may have died in the last two days.
