Haunted Station in Mumbai: The local train service are hailed as the ‘lifeline’ of Mumbai, assuring that the masses of the city are able to travel from one corner to the other for occupation. However, little is it known, that the commutation through the locals cause the death of 5 to 7 people on daily basis. The trains run tightly packed throughout the day, leaving Mumbaikars to use force and brute to make their way inside the bogie.

1 Charni Road Accident on Trains Roof
Days after the Western Railway (WR) switched from 1,500 volt Direct Current (DC) to 25,000 volt Alternating Current (AC) traction system, the city saw the first casualty in rooftop travelling on Thursday morning when a 35-year-old man fell off a suburban local apparently after being electrocuted.
The deceased has been identified as Ketan Laxmichand Sawla (35), a resident of Ghatkopar. “Sawla was working as an office boy in a private company at Charni Road. His body was taken to the Nair Hospital for post-mortem,” said a police officer from the Churchgate railway police station.
2 Unfortunate accident of a youth at Goregaon railway station caught on camera
An unfortunate train accident at Goregaon railway station in which a 20 year old college student from Goregaon lost his life was caught on CCTV camera.
Praveen Dhurve, a student of Nirmala College in Kandivali took a train from Goregaon’s platform no 1 on Friday afternoon. As the train picked pace, Dhurve struggled to get inside the compartment and was hit by a pole on the platform. He was rushed to the Shatabdi hospital but was declared dead.
A case has been registered with the Borivali GRP and further investigations are going on. Dhurve is survived by his four sisters and widowed mother.
3 Terrifying accident at Dadar railway station
Terrifying accident was caught on the CCTV installed at Dadar station, where a man got crushed under the locals after he attempted to enter inside the train while it began moving. The deceased has been identified as Shafiuddin Abdul Ghani,who was travelling along with two women of his family.
Ghani assured that the two women accompanying him were able to board the train. However, he failed in keeping his foot on the board, despite repeated attempts. As the train moved ahead, Ghani fall in the gap created to cross-over from one platform to the other.
4 Bhayander rail suicide, caught on CCTV
Footage from CCTV cameras installed at the station showed the unidentified youth was first seen on Platform 6 in the evening with his headphones plugged in. As the Virar-bound local was pulling in, he suddenly jumped onto the tracks and lay down in its path. Taken completely by surprise, the train’s motorman did not have the time to apply the emergency brakes.
The police have recovered his mobile phone and Rs. 1,000 cash from the body, and are going through the call data records to trace his relatives. As of now, police have registered a case of accidental death. Police Inspector Mahesh Bagwe, Vasai GRP, said, “We believe the man could have committed suicide due to a failed love affair, but that is speculation.”
5 Youth dies after falling from packed local train at Dombivli
In yet another shocking incident a death of a 21-year-old youth was captured on a camera, after he fell from the jam packed local train in Mumbai. The shocking death of the youth had again brought questions on safety of millions of Mumbaikar’s who travel everyday in this miserable condition.
According to the report, the victim has been identified as Bhavesh Nakate who had boarded a packed local from Dombivali, at 8:59 am which was headed to Chatrapati Shivaji Terminus.
6 woman died after she was sucked under a moving train at Borivali
In another ghastly railway accident, a 55-year-old woman lost her life as her body was mutilated by the moving train. The victim, Kiran Devi, along with her family had boarded the Vadodara Express from Surat in Gujarat. She reached her destination, Borivali at 3:50 AM in the morning. However, the train was moving towards Dadar, after halting for a brief period of 10 minutes at Borivali. The victim’s family got late in packing their bags and as they were about to deboard
7 Man commits suicide at Vikhroli station, caught on CCTV
a man in his 40s committed suicide by jumping in front of a local train at Vikhroli station.
The incident took place around 1:25 pm, when the unidentified man jumped from the platform and pushed himself in front of the Ambernath-bound fast train.
The deceased was standing at Vikhroli station’s platform number 3 before plunging himself in front of the train. The incident was captured by the station’s CCTV camera. Immediately after the incident, Government Railway Police (GRP) recovered the remains of his body and sent it to Ghatkopar’s Rajawadi hospital for an autopsy.
